The United States purchased St. John from the Danish West India and Guinea Company in In , Laurance Rockefeller donated over 5, acres of the island to the National Park Service. With two-thirds of the island designated as a national park, St. John has some of the world's most beautiful beaches, like the much-beloved Trunk Bay.
The Caribbean's first-ever floating taco and cocktail bar, Lime Out, recently opened in St. John, and it's the whole reason the US Virgin Islands just landed the top spot on our bucket list. The new eatery that floats feet off Hansen Bay Beach can only be reached by kayak, paddle board, or a power boat.
